Talking about art in the classroom

Talking about art can be a scary prospect for anyone. Particularly if you don't feel confident in your own knowledge or opinions of art.

During my training and in school I have come across two brilliant books that may help.

How to talk to children about art- Francoise Barbe-Gall,

How to talk to children about modern art- Francoise Barbe- Gall.

These books act as a guide for teacher taking both child and teacher on a journey through the piece of art and approaches to looking and appreciating. Both books have many example of art work with thought provoking question.

I highly recommend to anyone who goes into hot sweats at the thought of teaching art and art appreciation!! This book will give teachers the confidence to apply what they have learnt to any piece of artwork.
